Tips for the perfect Hair and Makeup Trial
24th June 2012
By Karla Davis | Allure Hair and Beauty

Timing: Schedule your hair and makeup trial two to three months before the wedding. Often booking too far ahead of the big day can result in indecision and second guessing the style you have chosen. Try to have your hair and makeup trial on the one day so you can see the overall look together.
Wash and dry your hair the day beforehand so your hair is not too clean and slippery to hold curl. Have your skin cleansed and moisturised and makeup-free. This allows maximum time during your appointment so your stylist isn’t spending your valuable trial time blow drying wet hair or cleansing off the day’s makeup before you have begun.
Bring along pictures or a collection on your iphone of the styles that you love. Include your dress and bridesmaids styles as well to help create the overall picture of the look for the day. This will be a great help in giving your stylists guidance and a starting point for the trial. Don't forget the hair accessories (veil) you plan on wearing so you can experiment with these and where you would like them placed and how they work with the style you’ve chosen.
Invite a second opinion, ask a bridesmaid, your mum or a friend whose opinion you value to come along with you, but avoid bringing a gaggle - too many opinions or voices speaking over each other creates chaos and often makes the Bride feel nervous in her style choice and indecisive on the trial day.
Wear your style home or plan an evening out to see how it wears and to be sure it feels secure and isn’t going to fall out after a couple of hours. Take lot’s of pictures from different angles and in different light so you can see how everything looks.
Don’t be shy with your styling team! Speak up and be clear about what you want. If something isn’t quite how you imagined it to be don’t be afraid to tell your stylist so that it can be adjusted. This is your special day so make sure your look is exactly how you envisaged
