Garden Weddings
11th February 2012
There are a few things that must be given major consideration when you contemplate a garden or outdoor wedding, the most obvious being the weather.
But it doesn’t all relate simply to whether it may rain or not. The climatic conditions and seasons will also greatly influence your theme and colourings as gardens go through their normal cycle.
If you want falling leaves then its an Autumn date for you! On the other hand if blooms are your aim then it must be Spring. If you want the glory of trees in full leaf and vibrant green rolling hills then of course its Spring or Summer, while the stark bare branches of our magnificent Plain trees are at their very best mid winter.

Some things to consider
Your date
If you have a particular garden look in mind tell us and we will be able to guide you as to what is the very best time of year to achieve your look. Ask us for photos and we can show you the various seasons or just talk to Kerry who maintains the gardens year round.
Enhance the gardens natural beauty
Because of the vagaries of weather we can never guarantee that our garden will be looking at its very best on a particular Saturday twelve or eighteen months hence. Higher or lower rainfall or unseasonal cold and hot snaps can delay or accelerate the annual progress of a garden by several weeks.
Its always a good idea to plan some additional potted plants, topiaries and maybe even cut flowers to ensure that al is just as you want on the big day itself. Talk to us and we can design a supplementary garden to complement your theme – cut flowers in pickle bottles, carafes, old jugs or old fashioned watering cans look fantastic if you are chasing the shabby chic look or topiary shrubs and carpet runners are perfect for the more sophisticated elegant look.
Don’t leave all your decoration in the marquee
The blank canvas that our garden provides should never be overlooked in the overall scheme of things. If you are being married onsite under one of our arbours or in the garden pagoda, don’t overlook the chance to decorate hedges and trees. This can be as simple as ribbon bows or colourful fabric butterfly’s or Bali flags.

Lighting
Almost all our weddings are afternoon into evening affairs. No doubt this is to capitalise on the stunning ocean vistas and sunsets followed by the dazzling lightshow of the Sunshine Coast Villages and towns. And while the natural light show is fantastic, we can do so much more if you want to really make a statement. From a full blown, but subtle and classy up lighting of trees and fairy lighting of hedges, to the simple addition of candle lanterns hung in the trees, or on small posts in the ground to add that intimate glow, we can design it all for you at Vue de Lumieres.

We love our garden and the grandeur that our blank canvas provides to all our lovely couples and their guests. But if you have even an inkling of creative juices flowing in your veins you are going to love what you can do to our venue and we are going to love coming along for the ride and getting it all in perfect place for you.
